Pusa NemaGel
A Nematode Based Biopesticide

The Biopesticide Pusa NemaGel developed at IARI, is a nematode based ecofriendly formulation with significantly enhanced shelf-life, which can kill a broad range of soil and foliar insect pests. This technology has been assigned to NRDC for commercialization so as to reach to the farming community. The project is mainly aimed to demonstrate the field efficacy of this formulation against soil and foliar insect pests in multilocation trials, which will give impetus for its speedy commercialization. Characteristics of Pusa NemaGel:
img11 Pusa NemaGel contains indigenous entomopathogenic nematodes (insect killers) of the family Steinernematiclae, eg. heat - tolerant nematode species Steinernema thermophilum.
img11 This technology has lead to significant improvement in the shelf life of the nematode over a wide range of temperature.
img11 Effective against soil as well as foliar insect pests of crops, causing mortality within 24-48 h.
img11 Safe for the plants, farm-animals,non-target pests, human health and the environment, therefore exempted from registration in most of the developed nations.
img11 High reproductive potential of the nematode favours its recycling in the environment.
img11 Once released in water, the live bioagent can be viewed through any hand-lens.
img11 No special equipments needed for application
img11 Application in the soil not only manges the soil pests but also increase the water holding capacity of the soil.
