Bottle Gourd

Indian Agriculture Research Institute (IARI) has made significant contributions in the development of improved cultivars and their relevant production, protection and processing technologies in fourteen mandated crops, covering cereals, coarse millets, pulses, oilseeds, fodder, fibre  and horticultural crops. These crop varieties have been widely adopted in their recommended areas / agro-climatic zones.

Hybrid- Pusa Hybrid-3

Fruits are green, slightly club shaped without neck. First picking 50-55 days after sowing

 Performance Results:

  • Yield 42 t/ha in summer and 47 t/ha in Kharif season

Cost:

  • Seed Price : Rs. 2000/= per kg

Pusa Naveen

Fruits are long (30-40 cm), cylindrical in shape, first picking in 55 days after sowing. Suitable for both summer and Kharif seasons. 

Performance Results:

  • Yield 33 t/ha.

Cost:

  • Seed Price : Rs. 450/= per kg

Economic benefits:

  • Suitable for packing for long distance transportation.

Pusa Samridhi

Fruits are green, straight, slightly clubbed, long (25-30 cm), weight 1 kg, fist picking 50-55 days after sowing. 

Performance results:

  • Yield – 30 t/ha

Cost:

  • Seed Price- Rs500 per kg

Pusa Santushti

Fruits are smooth, dark green pear shaped, 18.5 cm long with 12.4 cm diameter. The fruit sets under low temperature (10-120C) as well as high temperature (35-400C). Maturity 55-60 days.

Performance Results:

  • Average yield is 29 t/ha
